Nothin' is better than the South.
I'm hosting a small dinner party at my place and decided to take a chance and make it a southern style dinner! Being from the south, I'm not new to what all goes into the Southern Hospitality dishes.Whichever friend that has a southern inspired wedding, THAT will be the first for me! You can never go wrong w/ fried chicken, biscuits, and SWEET TEA!

Nice day for a White weddin'.
Over the weekend I was able to be a part of another amazing wedding. I couldn't believe the day for Raquel (now Mrs. White) to marry the love of her life finally arrived! It was a busy 8 months for her and I'm glad she's now able to relax in the Jamaican sun!
She looked gorgeous and flawless. She had a glow around her the whole day!
Raq gave me the privilege of making all of the bouquet's for the big day. She chose hydrangeas for her flowers which is always a good choice. Hydrangeas remind me of hundreds of little butterflies fluttering in the air in er...flocks? (would that be what you would call a group of butterflies?). They come in stem bunches which is fantastic bc you don't need very many stems to make a decent size bouquet! She also had 11 white roses and a few mini green hydrageas to add to her all white arrangement. The bride is always supposed to steal the show, and Raquel definately did just that!
p.s. I promise to post more photos from the big day!

Food. In a jar!

I have mason jars that I use as drinking cups at home. Very convenient and GREEN way to re-use these sweet glasses. I came across this company based in Atlanta, GA called, That Thing in a Jar. They combine convenience, sweet or savory, and clever all into one! Can you imagine having a BBQ Parfait or Low Country Shrimp and Grits? Mygoody-licious! If you're from the south, you know the drill (*drool)..if not, please try it! They also do desserts and cater practically any event that comes to mind! Wouldn't these be cute parting gifts for a southern style outdoor wedding in the summer? Check out the short blurb on their website here. My mind is already wondering how big those jars can get...bigger jars mean more delicious foods!

I smell a nice one.

It's true when they say you eventually become your mother...like my mother I am obsessed w/ perfumes! I'm also a big fan of Gardenias. They're one of my favorite flowers (along w/ Peonies and of course Succulents). One of the girls I work with showers me with perfume samples. She's my perfume keeper :). Boy was I excited when she gave me a ridiculous amount of Marc Jacob's perfume samples, Marc Jacobs Gardenia. It smells very pretty. Go get a sample, you'll thank me later!

Nice penmanship.
While browsing the wedding web I came across this cute calligraphy company called Pen & Ink owned by self-taught calligrapher, Lisa Ridgley. When I was in grade school I would always right "I will not talk in class" 100 times for no reason all because I wanted to have great handwriting! I was an only child, so we tend to give ourselves unnecessary work to do :) Unfortunately, I never mastered having great handwriting, but I continue to write unnecessary things in hopes of developing great penmanship...I'm still hoping...
Lisa's handwriting is beautiful and fun! I sweetly admire the straight lines and the curls on the letters. She does amazing work! Too bad she doesn't live in Los Angeles or I would be begging her to school me on calligraphy writing! Check out her website, it's darling and the prices are reasonable!

p.s. Did I mention she's self-taught?!!!
So Green so SUCCULENT.
I started running the Santa Monica wooden stairs on Sunday afternoon with one of my best friends and it's great! I'll admit when I first attempted the stairs I kept asking myself why was I torturing my poor little legs...but I've grown to love it and since it's off season for soccer now (yes, I play soccer) I needed to keep myself in shape some other way!
The stairs is set in the middle of a residential area and my golly everyone has an amazing garden with beautiful flowers! One garden that stands out is one filled with HUGE (I'm serious on the huge) succulent plants! Every time I pass it I slow down my (walking) pace because they're amazing! I always thought succulent plants would be perfect in a bridal bouquet as well as the bridesmaid's bouquets and throughout the ceremony & reception during the mid months of spring! Add gardenias and other flowers with shades of green and cremes (like the one below) it gives the whole wedding a very crisp feeling! I can already picture the perfect invite suite for something like this...
